A man walking lost through life searching for something big enough to fill the void in his heart, the size of a dad. The imprint of a father. Three years ago, John Finch stumbled onto a path that led to a journey finding forgiveness for the father no longer in his life. Typical to a journey, a discovery was made that captured John’s attention and owned his passion. What he found was a common wound, an epidemic among kids and adults. This story may be about one man, John, but it echoes of millions that have grown up without a father and the wound left as a result. It is a film certain to change the lives of children because it will change the hearts of fathers.
John walked away from an 18 year sales career in June 2010 to launch ThePerfectFather.org, an 501(c)3 organization whose mission is to spread the message about the father wound and the forgiveness and healing that comes through a relationship with Jesus Christ. In February of 2011, God laid it upon John’s heart to make a documentary about his story as a fatherless man on a journey to become a better father. As a first time filmmaker, God continues to be incredibly faithful in helping John fulfill his mission to complete the full-length documentary, help men walk in daily awareness of their significant and lifelong impact, and help men become better fathers. John has been married for 18 years, has three beautiful daughters, and he is incredibly thankful for the second chance to be a father and husband for an amazing family.
